The Helen Stewart Poetry Award is an annual contest for local poets of Clark County, Nevada. The award is named in honor of the magazine’s namesake and the First Lady of Las Vegas, Helen Stewart.
Proceeds from the contest fees are split between the magazine and The Friends of the Fort. Both organizations need funding to help support the community and the arts.
Poems are judged by a selected poetry judge who is not on staff at the magazine. Our judge this year is accomplished poet and experienced judge Lois Roma-Deeley.
All poems submitted for the contest are reviewed by staff and considered for publication in our issues and our ongoing blog series Friday Night Specials.
1st prize: $100
2nd prize: $50
3rd prize: $25
All winning poems are published in our April issue of that year.
Submissions have closed. Winners will be announced in mid-April.
