Helen is a Vegas-based arts and literary magazine published biannually in innovative print options and digital media.
Our focus is on expanding the perspective of the city and greater Southern Nevadan area as well as giving a special spotlight to the local and diverse talent living here and originally from here.
The name Helen was inspired by the “First Lady of Las Vegas,” Helen J. Stewart, a pioneer who helped forge the valley in the 1880s. Find out more about our namesake in Margie Klein’s post here.
We seek pieces that feature a distinct flavor and sentiment of Vegas culture, the kind of stories that highlight the ordinary as well as the extraordinary. We appreciate well-written literary fiction in all genres.
We hope the work of Helen helps to open the imagination of all those who read her.
Helen also seeks work of creative nonfiction, artwork, short film, and video and audio files featuring spoken word. Each issue will contain material in print and digital. Some materials will be exclusively web only.
